Online Resources for Grants, Fund-Raising, and Prospect Information
This collection of Web resources provides useful information for component
executives and AIA150 champions seeking to raise supplemental funds to support
local Blueprint initiatives. Each of the recommended sites consists of a unique set of
links, offering access to the most current online resources and tools to identify and
qualify prospective donors and other potential sources of funding.

Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement
Maintained by the professional association of prospect researchers, this
comprehensive site offers end users a wealth of resources, including the Web-based
collections of many highly respected research professionals and assessment tools for
real estate.

The Non-Profit Gateway
This site's basic, no-frills index format links directly to 14 federal department home
pages, and to special pages created for nonprofits, including the Government
Information Locator Service (to search government publications) and an option that
enables a keyword search on each department's site. These information-rich
resources often contain a wealth of information on federally funded grants.

Developing and Writing Federal Grant Proposals
Produced by the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, this resource provides an
overview of the key strategies for effective federal grantsmanship.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy
Widely regarded as the newspaper of the nonprofit world, the Chronicle has a
reputation for presenting some of the most thoughtful, timely writing about the state
of the philanthropic sector. The site includes a wide array of current news items,
features, and information tools and resources for fund-raising, development, and
grantsmanship.

GrantSmart

This database nearly 574,000 tax returns filed by 101,377 private foundations and
charitable trusts. The IRS supplies the date, which was most recently updated with
returns filed in January 2006. These tax returns are, by law, public records and
contain valuable information on the foundation's funding priorities and net assets.

GrantStation

This site features good information on both free and fee-based services. Work your
way through the valuable links in the left margin, including the Grantseekers’ Toolkit
and other resources.

GuideStar
http://www.guidestar.org/
GuideStar offers a database of more than 700,000 U.S. nonprofit organizations,
which includes some 60,000 private foundations. Useful for finding potential
partners, as you can search by keyword and location, among other criteria. If you
are looking for information on a specific funder, you can find basic address and
financials here, then link to downloadable PF-990s (federal tax filings) for more
detail.

The Foundation Center

"Your gateway to philanthropy on the World Wide Web." You can use the free
Foundation Finder to search by name for basic contact and financial information on
more than 10,000 of the largest foundations. Or for about $20 a month you can
subscribe to Foundation Center Online, which gives access to the complete
searchable foundation database.
